Join us on an excursion through the inspiring Reykjanes, one of Iceland’s true natural treasures.
We will start the tour with an awe-inspiring crossing of ‘The Bridge Between Continents’. This unusual bridge spans the continental divide that separates the Eurasian and North-American tectonic plates. Nowhere else on Earth is this divide so easily seen with the naked eye.
Once we’ve completed our continental crossing, we’ll move on to a place the locals call ‘Gunnuhver’. These boiling hot mud pools are another truly fascinating sight, and showcase some of Iceland’s raw natural beauty. From here, we’ll hike across towering cliffs via the oldest lighthouse in the country. From the vantage point offered by the cliffs, you can witness the mighty force of the surrounding ocean.
Next, we’ll make a stop in the nearby town of Grindavik where you can enjoy a lunch of either lobster or lamb soup, then get some snaps of the beautiful Blue Lagoon. Following the coast, we’ll then take the scenic drive south, arriving in the geothermal hotspots of Krýsuvík or Seltún after around 40 minutes. Our journey back takes us past the stunning lake Kleifarvatn, and through the town of Hafnarfjörður, famous for Vikings as well as Elven myths.
This tour is highly recommended and is a favourite of both visitors and guides alike.
